Suicide prevention and mental health
Charitable theme for CP7: Suicide prevention and mental health
Our commitment
For Control Period 7 (2024–2029), our charitable theme is suicide prevention and mental health. This reflects our commitment to improving engagement and support for communities across our network.
As a major employer with a vast estate and a leading role in the rail industry, we have a responsibility and opportunity to support vulnerable individuals around our railway.
What do we want to achieve?
We aim to:
- Raise awareness of the vital work done by suicide prevention and mental health charities.
- Encourage colleagues to volunteer with those charities.
- Promote volunteering to improve personal mental and physical wellbeing.
All Network Rail colleagues are entitled to up to five days of paid volunteer leave each year. We encourage you to use this, to support a wide range of charities and organisations.
Please note: As an arm’s length body of the Department for Transport (DfT), Network Rail is unable to provide direct financial donations to charities or organisations.
Why suicide prevention and mental health?
This theme was chosen by colleagues, receiving over 50% of votes in a company-wide poll.
